The MURDER of Paitin Fields Pt II
In this episode of Case Acquaint, we will be discussing the case of Paitin Fields, a five year old child who was viciously raped and murdered in her own home. This is the second episode in a series about this case, and if you have not heard the first episode, we would encourage you to check out Episode 21, which was the first. No arrests have been made, not even a person of interest has been named.
Paitin's autopsy was recently completed, and the community still wonders if their children are safe. Little Paitin suffered an extremely violent death, so please use discretion when deciding whether or not to listen to this graphic episode. You will also hear from a community member who lives in Pender County, and who has been involved in the local #justiceforpaitinfields movement.

The entire state of Utah was rocked in early 1974 when a horrendous series of events occurred. The violence and sadistic nature of the abuse and torture subjected to the innocent victims had a shattering effect on those remaining, and all of the victims' families. Hear how the unique reactions to the life-changing crimes reveal that as victims and co-victims, people find ways to cope that work for them.
For production of this episode, we relied on information gleaned from archived newspaper articles from The Ogden Standard Examiner and the Salt Lake Tribune. We also relied on the years of exhaustive research performed by author Gary Kinder, who wrote one of the realest true crime books out there, entitled Victim: The Other Side of Murder. If you are interested in this genre and have not read it, it's simply a must. If you are not interested in this genre, but appreciate the beauty of individualized perseverence, it's simply a must. The strength of character exhibited by the victims and co-victims cannot but inspire. This is not just about some sadistic killers. It's about the stubborn determination to proceed with life after that life has been impacted by psychopaths.
This case has been resolved, so there is no call to action.

Ashley Meiss
On March 17th, 2018, Ashley Meiss left her home for a run. She left everything behind and never returned. Ashley is an Army veteran, and she is reported to suffer from PTSD.

Akia Shawnta Eggleston

May 7th, 2017 was supposed to be a day of celebration for 22 year old Akia Eggleston. She was eager to reveal the gender of her unborn baby at a special baby shower, and even though her pregnancy was high-risk with her baby in a breech position, she was busy readying herself to welcome friends and family to this joyous event.
But Akia never made it to the baby shower she'd already spent hundreds of dollars to plan. She never made it to her other appointments that week either. When Akia failed to pick her daughter up from a family member's house, that is when Akia's loved ones knew something beyond her control had happened to her.
This story will detail everything we know about Akia and her disappearance. Who would want to hurt Akia, a doting mom, beloved friend and family member, and a young lady with dreams for a bright future with a new boyfriend and father of her unborn baby?
Akia's family has put all their faith in the investigatory sophistication of the Baltimore Police Department. Will BPD bring Akia and her baby home or bring a criminal to justice?

MISSING
Donald Cavanaugh and David Neily
In the mid-2000s, two men suspiciously disappeared right after a local ranch owner becamed angered at each of them. The first, Donald Cavanaugh, disappeared in March of 2005. He was the uncle of the temperamental James Denoyer, on whose 20 acre Californai ranch several horses were languishing, and after securing 14 of Donald's horses, James decided he no longer had a need for the 63 year old heart patient.
The second man, artist and metal worker David Neily, was introduced to Denoyer by his son, Ryan, who was employed by Denoyer's construction business. David disappeared in April of 2006 during an investigation of Denoyer for animal cruelty. David's family reported that Denoyer had threatened Ryan Neily, and had accused 69 year old David of alterting Animal Services to the squalid conditions under which the horses lived and died on Denoyer's ranch.
The men disappeared after each had told someone they were on their way to the ranch to retreive their items from Denoyer's property, and there has never been a trace of them seen or heard from since.

Laureen Ann Rahn
In the early morning hours of April 27th, 1980, Judith Rahn reported that her 14 year old daughter, Laureen, was missing. She was supposed to be enjoying a fun night with a friend, but after the friend went to sleep, Laureen disappeared.
What happened to Laureen? There are more bizarre theories than one would ever imagine. Through it all, Judith has never stopped believing that her daughter is alive, and someday she will see her again.

The Murder of Paitin Fields
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month!
Early in the morning of November 13th, 2017, a child was brought into the Emergency Room at the small Pender County Hospital. It was five year old Paitin Fields, and the Emergency room staff was told that she had been found unresponsive.
It didn’t take long for staff to deduce they were not equipped to handle Paitin’s injuries, so after stabilizing her as best as they could, they sent her to nearby New Hanover Regional Medical Center, which is located in the historic city of Wilmington NC, and is about a 35 minute drive.
After sending little Paitin on her way, a nurse called the Pender County Sheriff’s Office. The time was 5:43 AM.
“I have a five year old that was brought in who is now intubated and headed to New Hanover, with what strongly appears to be strangulation marks on her neck.”
Little Paitin never regained consciousness, and she died on Wednesday, November 15th, 2017.

If you are a witness to any sort of child abuse, or if a child confides in you that they are being abused... or if you yourself are being abused, please don’t be afraid to report it. Authorities can’t do anything about it if they don’t know about it. You can call 911 if it’s an emergency, and if it isn’t, call the police. They can create a preliminary report and notify the appropriate agency.
If you’d like someone to talk to about any issues related to child abuse, there is help at the National Child Abuse Hotline. 1-800 422-4453.
If you are being abused, you have options. First make sure you are not being monitored. If you can safely call, dial the National domestic violence hotline at 800-799-7233. To chat, online, go to www.thehotline.org. Please don’t forget, the National Domestic Violence hotline is not just for women. It’s for anyone facing issues associated with domestic violence!
If you are looking for resources, that phone number and website can also help you, even by providing information on what services are available in your locality.
Also, we have a couple of BOLOs this week:
Michael A Cornish. He had an open warrant out on him for child abuse with serious bodily injury on a child under the age of 12. He’s on the run, and authorities think he may be in New Hanover County, NC. He was last known to have been driving a green 1994 Saturn SL2 with the license place number EBD7861.
Anyone with information should call Goldsboro police at 919-705-6572 or Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
William “bill” Roegner and his lady friend, Penny Holt, out of Putnam County WV. Penny Holt is only wanted for questioning in Roegner’s case. Now he is facing a LOT of charges related to the sexual abuse of three children over the course of several years.
Now the cops are saying this guy is armed and dangerous, and he has already made threats to law enforcement. As a matter of fact, he should know how dangerous that is since he is a former law enforcement officer himself. If you have any information on this case, you are asked to contact troopers with the West Virginia State Police at 304-824-3101. You are advised to not approach Roegner.

The Murder of Tess Hilt
Stanley and Mildred Hilt were very proud of their only child, and they had every reason to be so.
Tess was a beautiful, intelligent, outgoing achiever. She had finished her Bachelor's degree in music education, and was just beginning graduate school at Northwest Missouri State University.
Her life was taken from her violently in the early morning hours of August 3rd, 1973, and it remains unresolved to this day. Her murder shattered the lives of the Hilts, and shocked the small college town of Maryville, MO.
Why would someone brutalize Tess in such a malicious and angy way? The police investigation went off the rails immediately, and it never seemed to get back on.
We take you through the details of the crime, explain the various theories, and bring you up to date on what and who is working to get justice for Tess.

The Murder of Wendy Madden
Wendy Madden was 23 years old when she was murdered and left behind a now-demolished little neighborhood bar.

We're going to pull off on Exit 30.
On March 11th, 1991, Wendy set out to walk to the store on a cold Monday night. She said she was going to get cigarettes from a place called Store 24, which is now called ABC Liquors. She was last seen near the intersection of Rail Road Street and Cross Street.
Wendy's body was found on March 13th behind Jan's Place, a bar which has now been torn down and is just a grassy lot, dedicated to storing somebody's covered RV.
Wendy has not had justice for 27 years. She would be old enough to have grandkids right now. She has missed out on so many of life's joys.
Detective Cormier has come so far in her search, from digging out old undeveloped negatives to getting samples tested for DNA. Let's do what we can to help her finish the job.
